Jones Hunting Intelligence for California

Private Intel Board Data Updated May 2026

Southern California deer and bear command center

Built for Todd, Liam, and Nico Jones. Prioritizes rifle opportunity, close drive time from LA/Burbank, practical deer tag strategy, and Southern California black bear add-ons. A23 is omitted because the current CDFW deer zone map set does not list an active A23 map.

How HVI Calculated

Hunting Value Index is calculated dynamically from each row: 50% tag ease, 40% normalized harvest success, and 10% LA/Burbank drive score. OTC or low-point opportunities score higher for tag ease. Shorter drives score higher using 1 hour = 100, 4 hours = 70, and 6 hours = 50 as planning anchors.

HVI = (tagEase * .50) + (successScore * .40) + (driveScore * .10)

Archery Loophole Concept

On this board, the archery loophole means an easy-access deer tag can create useful bowhunting or scouting time before rifle season without sacrificing the family rifle-first strategy. It is a planning flag, not a legal shortcut: the hunter still needs the correct license, tag, equipment, season, zone, and CDFW compliance for the exact hunt.

Rows marked by the bow icon are worth reviewing because they combine practical tag access, nearby logistics, and an early archery window. Always verify the current CDFW digest and zone map before buying or hunting.
